Dyeing is the process of Adding Colour to textile products like Fibers, Yarns, and Fabrics. Dyeing is normally done in a Special Solution containing Dyes and Particular Chemical Material. After dyeing, dye molecules have uncut chemical bond with fiber molecules. The Temperature and Time controlling are two key factors in dyeing.
Direct Dye is a class of dyestuff that are applied directly to the substrate in a Neutral or Alkaline bath. They produce full shades on Cotton and Linen without moderating.
Acid dyes are highly water soluble and have better light fastness than basic dyes. They are effective for protein fibers such as Silk, Wool, Nylon and Modified Acrylics. As a group, acid dyes can be divided into two sub-groups : Acid-Leveling or Acid-Milling.
Reactive Dyes are capable of reacting chemically with a substrate to form a covalent dye substrate linkage. They have good fastness properties owing to the bonding that occurs during dyeing. Reactive dyes are most commonly used in dyeing of cellulose like Cotton or Flax. As a group reactive dyes can be divided into sub-groups : H, HE, ME, VS and M.
At DAZZLE we have launched Luminous Neon Dyes for Cotton with the below advantages :
At DAZZLE we provide a comprehensive range of 47 shades in Luminous Neon Dyes for Nylon / Silk / Wool.
Optical Brightening Agents (OBA) or Fluorescent Whitening Agents (FWA) is added to many substrates to Reduce Yellowing, Improve Whiteness and Enhance the Brightness of the product. Optical whiteners function by absorbing ultraviolet radiation and re-emitting blue light. The emitted blue light will reduce the yellow color of the substrate and impart a pleasing whiter-than-white appearance. Optical brighteners give more intensity to some colours as well.
It is a constituent of Two Sulfonic Acid groups and is good for hydrophobic fiber (Nylon, Silk and Wool) application in Acidic pH.
It is a constituent of Four Sulfonic Acid groups and is having good solubility and is ideal for Cellulosic fiber and Paper application at Neutral or Alkaline pH.
It is a constituent of Six Sulfonic Acid groups and has excellent solubility for Surface Coating applications like Photographic Paper etc.
Pretreatment Chemicals are used to convert raw fiber / yarn / fabric into substrates suitable for dyeing, printing and finishing. These fibers / yarns / fabrics could be of cotton, wool, silk, synthetics and blends of these.
The Pre-treatment Processes include :
Pretreatment requirements are as follows :
Thus Pretreatment occupies a critical position in Wet Processing. More than 60% of problems encountered in finished fabrics are directly attributed to lack of proper preparation.
The dyes used in this mass colouration are specific for a particular substrate and are classified with regard to their chemical constitution, substantivity to the fiber type and method of application.
To achieve the best dyeing results the following criteria are important :
One of the several printing methods using printing ink, paste or dispersion is applied to the fabric and then fixed to the fiber by heat or heat and steam. Excess dye is removed from the fabric by washing and detergent scouring and the fabric is subsequently dried. Printing styles can be broadly classified into Direct, Dyed, Discharge and Resist.
Printing methods vary with machinery and include : Block Printing, Roller Printing, Screen Printing (Table, Flatbed, Rotary), Spray Printing and Foam Printing. The types of dyes used in textile printing are usually the same classes that confer substantively to given fiber types in the exhaust dyeing process. There are several types of printing in vogue e.g. Pigment, Vat, Reactive, Disperse, Rapid, Napthol / Base.
Textile materials undergo several chemical treatments from the raw stage to finished product. These processes (Desizing, Scouring, Bleaching, Dyeing, Washing etc.) cause the surface of the fibres to become rough and harsh. This leads to the fabric having an unpleasant feel. To solve this problem textile materials are treated with substances, called "Softeners" which give a pleasant feel.
